Remember coloring freely when you were a kid? Sips & Scribbles is an event for adults that want to feel that magic again! At this event you’ll create your own journaling spread while watching The Nightmare Before Christmas. Come with a friend or make new ones here! This event will be a chill time to destress, craft, and have a lot of fun!

Who are you?

Hey, I’m Marina, a multi media artist & event coordinator based in Durham, NC. I’ve felt a pull to host my own events centered on connection, expression, & inner child healing. You will be part of my Sips & Scribbles events which are so special ✨

What’s a junk journal?

“A handmade book filled with personal and recycled materials to store memories and ideas. Like its name implies, the pages are filled with material that's usually thrown away…” Source (also find inspo pics & items list). 

I’m calling it a junk journaling party because I’m encouraging you to journal with your treasured junk. But it‘s also a scrapbooking party, collaging party, journaling party- whatever you want! The only rule here is to have fun & enjoy yourself!

I already have a journal, can I bring it?

Yes! I’ll be working out of my own journal too! Choose the BYO Journal TX option for $35. You’ll get all the same perks as the $38 ticket, just without a new journal.

Do I have to bring anything?

Bring anything personal you'd like to journal with! I’ll have scrapbooking & collaging supplies, but feel free to bring your own for a personal touch. Ideas: receipts, photos, fabrics, stickers, napkins, wrappers, lace, ribbons, magazine clippings, washi tape, etc. Just no glitter or confetti due to venue policy.

What’s the parking situation like?

Downtown Durham street parking is free on weekends unless signs say otherwise. There's also parking in the parking garage located directly on W. corporation ST (between Foster and Rigsbee St) — grab a TX and get it validated at the DFH Auctioneer bar located on the 1st floor.

Where is the Walker Stone room located?

The event is on the second floor of Durham Food Hall. Take the stairs in front of Patty Boy; the room is right at the top, to the right. Important: you’ll need to use the stairs to access the space.

What’s the dress code?

There isn’t one! Come in whatever makes you comfy…shorts, tank top, full Bratz outfit, you do you!

Are drinks included with my ticket?

Nope! But the DFH bar will be open during the event. Non-alcoholic beverages* and local food spots are also available on the first floor! MENU 🍽️🍹🧋

The DFH also has a chilled water station if you prefer water!

*coffee, boba/milkteas, sodas, kombucha, and more.

Why should I attend this event?

This event is all about fun! You can collage or journal your favorite things while watching a cute, feel-good Halloween movie. It's like a Halloween-themed sleepover at your BFF’s house—without the sleeping over!!!

I’ll bring cute crafting supplies and prompts to inspire you. Plus, we’ll be in a private suite, perfect for tuning out the outside world. It's the ultimate October vibe!

Why do you host Sips & Scribbles for adults?

So you can forget your long to-do list, meet new people, take time for yourself, get out of the house, and do something that makes your soul happy.

Can I order me & my friends TX all at once?  

Heck yeah! 

What is the refund policy?

Since this is a private, ticketed event, refunds won’t be available after a week before the event. If your plans change before 10/13, contact me! If you can’t make it the week of, you’ll forfeit your spot without a refund.
